Message From Your Principal - June Newsletter
Posted on 06/03/2024

Greetings Ardagh Bluffs Families,

Welcome to the month of June!  This month we look forward to recognizing National Indigenous History Month, Pride Month and Filipino, Italian and Portuguese Heritage Months.  During the month you will see both the Pride Flag and Every Child Matters Flag flying proudly at our school as per the board’s planned schedule.

The month of June is also exciting and busy and this year is no exception!  Today we began the day by raising the Pride Flag with a ceremony at the flagpole which was planned and conducted by our school’s AGSA.  Friday, June 7th, is a Professional Activity Day and there will be no school for students as staff work on assessment, evaluation and reporting for Term 2.  Our Grade 3 and 6 students will finish up their EQAO assessments early this month and we are proud of their efforts as they demonstrate their learning.  We are also looking forward to hearing the results of Track and Field as our athletes head to Innisdale SS for the regionals early this week and are very excited for our Grade 8’s as they will depart for their two-night trip to Camp Kandalore this month. In addition, our primary students are eagerly awaiting their Play Day, which will occur on June 14th.

We would like everyone to try and save the day for our school wide, community event called SHOWCASE! 2024 which will take place on Thursday, June 13th from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  During Showcase, we will feature student artwork and talent. In addition, there will be food trucks available on site for those wishing to purchase a snack. We hope to see as many Ardagh families as possible that night.

To conclude the month, we will be sending home student Report Cards on June 21st, so please watch for those and reach out to your child’s educators with any questions. Grade 8 Graduation will be held on Monday, June 24th at Bear Creek Secondary School.  We look forward to celebrating your child’s achievements with you.  And finally, we’ll wrap up the 2023-2024 school year on June 27th, which is the last day of school for students this year.

Once again our school community has pulled together to raise funds for both the school and wider community.  We are pleased to share that we raised $880 during our Big Box of Cards Fundraiser. These funds will go towards clubs and activities.  We are very proud to share that we raised $740 during Jump Rope For Heart so far which goes directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the donation page will be open until June 6th.  Go Bengals!!!

We would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to our School Council for their tireless efforts this year!  Their commitment and partnership has been of huge benefit to the entire school community.  We look forward to our continued partnership and collaboration next school year.

Please watch for communication from the school office at the end of June which will outline all of the information you need to know about school start up in September.

We’re looking forward to our final month of the 2023-2024 school year!
