Greetings Ardagh Families,

We have enjoyed the month of February at Ardagh Bluffs Public School! For a short month, we certainly participated in many wonderful learning experiences and activities at the school. Together, we recognized and celebrated Black History Month. Our staff and student committee collaboratively planned and implemented a month filled with learning opportunities. The entire school community enjoyed the beautiful, student created display in our main display case and posters throughout the school. We also heard daily announcements about Black individuals, both historical and present, who have contributed greatly to society. A very special thank you goes out to parent, Mr. Robinson and staff member, Mrs. Stewart-Brown for being special guests during our Black History Month Read Alouds. We appreciate your willingness to read to us and answer all of our questions!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our School Council’s Raise the Dough Fundraiser on February 21st. We are awaiting confirmation of the total money raised. A special thank you goes out to our School Council who planned our Valentine’s Day Dance-a-Thon and Fundraiser this year. The council raised $1,831.35 which will go towards technology purchases for our school. A fun day was had by all with great music and a light show from our DJ. On February 28th, our school recognized the Day of Pink to show our commitment to end all forms of bullying. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Families also would have received their children’s report cards on February 16th. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s report card, please reach out to your child’s educators as they are eager to partner with you to support your child’s learning, growth and success.

March is shaping up to be a fantastic month as well! We are looking forward to recognizing Bangladeshi and Hellenic Heritage Months during the month of March.

We can’t wait to enjoy the Barrie Colts game on the evening of March 2nd together as a school community. Our primary choir will be singing O’Canada at the game and we sold 261 tickets as part of our Colt’s School Council Fundraiser. The council was able to raise $1,566 which will be put towards general school needs such as school enhancements and extracurricular activities. Can’t wait to see you there!

Our next School Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the school library. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend this meeting. As you can see, our council is very active in the school and we could use extra help and volunteers to support our efforts.

We’ll all look forward to the Spring Break which will take place from March 11 - 15. When we return from the break, we will recognize World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st by rocking our socks that day. On March 22nd, we will recognize Earth Hour by wearing blue and green. We have ribbons available in the office for students who would like to participate in spirit days, but who might not have the appropriate colour of shirt on hand. Please reach out to the office team and we’ll make sure your child is able to participate by providing an appropriately coloured ribbon.

We are looking forward to another wonderful month of learning at Ardagh. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school.
