Greetings Ardagh Bluffs’ Families,
We have enjoyed the month of February at Ardagh Bluffs Public School! For a short month, we endured lots of challenging weather and snow days but also participated in many wonderful learning experiences and activities at the school. Together, we recognized and celebrated Black History Month and Chinese Heritage Month. Our staff and student committee collaboratively planned and implemented a month filled with learning opportunities. The entire school community enjoyed the beautiful, student created display in our main display case and posters throughout the school. We also heard daily announcements about Black individuals, both historical and present, who have contributed greatly to society. A very special thank you goes out to parent, Mr. Robinson for being a special guest during our Black History Month Read Aloud. We appreciate your willingness to read to us and answer all of our questions!
A special thank you goes out to our School Council who planned our Valentine’s Day Dance-a-Thon and Fundraiser this year. The council raised $1,102.89 which will go towards Athletics, General School Needs, Technology, School Enhancements and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion purchases for our school. A fun day was had by all with great music and a light show from our DJ. On February 26th, our school recognized the Day of Pink to show our commitment to end all forms of bullying. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Families also would have received their children’s report cards on February 14th. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s report card, please reach out to your child’s educators as they are eager to partner with you to support your child’s learning, growth and success.
March is shaping up to be a fantastic month as well! We’re excited to be hosting this year’s Regional Chess Tournament on March 6th. On the same date, we’ll welcome Director Stephens who will be visiting Ardagh Bluffs Public School to see the wonderful learning that students are engaged in. On March 7th we look forward to participating in our All About My Fav’s Spirit Day. Families can expect Term 2 Individual Education Plans to be sent home with students on March 7th.
We know that everyone is eagerly awaiting the Spring Break which will take place from March 10-14. When we return from the break, we will recognize World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st by rocking our socks that day. A student favourite - Grilled Cheese Day - will return to Ardagh on March 28th. A huge thank you goes out to our volunteer team for cooking us these delicious treats!
Our next School Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the school library. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend this meeting. As you can see, our council is very active in the school and we could use extra help and volunteers to support our efforts.
We are looking forward to another wonderful month of learning at Ardagh! Thank you for your ongoing support of our school.
