Greetings Ardagh Bluffs’ Families,

During the month of October, we recognized many important dates and events including: ADHD Awareness Month, Autism Awareness Month Canada, Dyslexia Awareness Month, German Heritage Month, Canadian Islamic Heritage Month, Latin American Heritage Month and Women’s History Month.  Students engaged in learning about these months of recognition through our electronic announcements. We also recognized the contributions of our Bus Drivers on October 23rd and held a Spirit Day for those wishing to celebrate Halloween on October 31st. We all enjoyed the Kindergarten Halloween Parade that took place on the first floor of the school! Our School Council planned and held the Halloween Dance and treat sale fundraiser which made for an exciting day at the school.  We also held our Picture Day on October 8th and we’re looking forward to having our class group photos and photo retakes on November 27th.

Our extra-curricular clubs and teams had a very busy month. Students were busy and engaged with cross-country, flag football, volleyball, basketball, and the AGSA. Our student leadership team is also back up and running and they have been busy planning school wide events, such as spirit days.

During the month of November, our school will recognize both Hindu Heritage Month and Lebanese Heritage Month. We’ll also recognize Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week.  You can also expect to receive your child’s Progress Report Card and/or Kindergarten Continuum of Learning on November 8th. By now, you are most likely scheduled for a parent/teacher interview. If you do not yet have a date, please reach out to your child’s teacher to book a date and time.

This month we are looking forward to recognizing Remembrance Day on November 11th through assemblies.  Our Remembrance Day Committee has been preparing meaningful, inclusive Remembrance Day assemblies and families of students in Kindergarten to Grade 4 are welcome to join the primary assembly at 9:45 a.m.  Families of students in Grades 5-8 may join the junior / intermediate assembly at 11:55 a.m. All staff and students will mark a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. on this day. Additionally, we will have our Canadian Artifact Museum set up in the library on that date and would like to thank families for their meaningful contributions to this special display.

Our School Council will be meeting on November 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the library.  Please know that all parents and guardians are welcome to join the council meeting, you do not have to be a voting member to attend.  The School Council has many great events and fundraisers planned this year, such as the upcoming Boston Pizza Fundraiser on November 7th where Ardagh Staff are eager to serve you dinner and the Movie Night on Friday, November 22nd.  Please also watch for the Poinsettia Sale, which will be posted on School Cash Online soon.  We are pleased to share the results of many of our Fall Fundraisers, with $4,215.80 being raised for the Terry Fox Foundation, $1,573.77 being raised for library books during our Scholastic Book Fair, and $512 being raised through the School Council Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser. Thank you to the entire Ardagh Bluffs community for your generous support!

Thank you to the Ardagh Bluffs community for a fantastic month.  Wishing everyone a safe and learning filled month in November,

Ms. Robinson and Mr. Kirwan
